K. Dorran Swearngan, CPA

Dorran has been working in public accounting since 1997. He began his career at a regional CPA firm in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He has extensive experience in the areas of tax preparation, tax research, tax planning, audit and review services, client advisory services, implementing bookkeeping and payroll services, etc. Dorran has worked with a diverse group of industries during his career, primarily with small businesses and individuals.

Working with small businesses is Dorran’s passion. Doing so has given him the opportunity to get to know his clients’ business, personal and professional goals in order to help map out a plan to meet their financial goals.  Dorran has the experience and skills to aid clients in determining appropriate tax planning, tax preparation and business planning to help them reach their goals. He has consulted with start-up businesses, growing businesses with financial needs and transitions from existing mature business owners to new owners and/or family members.  

Education and Community Involvement

Dorran earned his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 1996. While at UNCC he was invited to join Beta Alpha Psi, an accounting national honor society, and Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society. 

Dorran has served the community in a variety of civic and charitable organizations.  He served in various roles in his church including serving as an Elder. He completed the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Lake Norman course. He also served as Treasurer of a Kiwanis Club.  For more than twelve years, he served in many roles with Boy Scouts of America at both the unit and district levels, earning the coveted Wood Badge as a Scout Leader.
